Hello, my name is Martha Wyrsch and I’m the President of Vestas Americas Wind means the world to us. It’s all we do. We’re driven by it. Driven to meet the demands of an energy-hungry world. And driven by the conviction that - through the power of wind energy - we can make that world a better place. We can make a real and positive difference for all of us, and for the planet itself. First and foremost, we care about safety. The well-being of everyone who works with us and for us is paramount. And this is evident in the emphasis we give to safety awareness training, to processes and programmes – from the most senior management, to every employee in our manufacturing facilities and on the work sites worldwide. The environment, too, is a central concern. Which is what you would expect, as green energy is the very core of our business. Our whole reason to exist. And it’s why we are continually researching and innovating ways to make our turbines ever more efficient, both environmentally and operationally. And it’s why we have stringent internal targets for our own use of renewable energy. So, in reaping the benefits of the environment, we act as good stewards. And, as a sustainable business, we act with integrity and transparency. With our prominent position in the industry, and our global presence, we can use our influence for good. Working in partnership with, customers, communities, and other stakeholders, we can help to create better conditions. Help to set higher ethical standards and greater respect – not only for safety and the environment, but for human rights, labour practices and anti-corruption. In meeting these goals, our business partners have an important role to play, too. Together, we can fulfill the aspiration to place wind energy on a par with oil and gas as an energy source; to be commercially competitive; and to deliver benefits for society as a whole. Now, please take the opportunity to explore further what we mean by safety, environment and business ethics.
