Hello, my name is Lars Christian Christensen and I’m Vice President for Wind & Site Competence Center here at Vestas. Wind is pure power. An inexhaustible source of natural energy, freely available. The secret, though, is how to locate and site a wind power plant offshore or onshore - in such a way that it reaps the optimal balance between yield and costs. Who can deliver the answer? We believe we can. We are committed to working with you, sharing knowledge and delivering the data that’s essential to enable you to make the correct decisions for success in the new wind economy. Wind means the world to us and we have over thirty years of wind and site experience... together with advanced modelling techniques that rise well above industry standards. Because turbine siting is critical to optimising production . . . and ensuring predictable performance. So let’s see how we approach turbine siting. Our Site Assessment models evaluate the likely performance in both stable and unstable wind flows. We use analysis of actual wind phenomena and performance data input from 26,000 MW of installed Vestas turbines around the world. This is monitored at our Performance and Diagnostic Centre in Denmark. But what about sites where there are more complex conditions? No problem. We use Computational Fluid Dynamics to give us the information we need to reduce performance risks. The state-of-the-art technology that easily performs these complex modeling tasks? Our Jetstream SuperComputer, which provides us with rapid evaluation of all forecast scenarios. By using such advanced technology and techniques and by working with independent engineering consultants, we are at the absolute leading edge of the wind energy industry . . . able to deliver accurate results beyond the normal industry standards. Wherever the wind blows, we can make sure it’s in the most favourable direction for your wind power project. Now, you can get details on technologies we provide and use.
